I am pleased to invite you to my next solo exhibition titled “Les rêves de l’ailleurs” (Dreams of the Elsewhere) which will take place at la salle Multifonction de la bibliothèque Multiculturelle of Laval (Quebec), throughout the month of September 2018.
In this exhibition, you will be able to see my most recent series of artworks, the one I worked on from January to the end of June 2018. It is a series of oil and cold wax medium landscape paintings on paper or polyester film.
For years, I did only abstract painting and I was very happy with that. I felt that abstract painting offered me a great creative freedom. However, a part of me was increasingly attracted to landscape painting, a genre I had never really explored. For a long time I resisted this call for landscape painting, but I finally decided to give myself the opportunity to dive into the experience for a few months. Just to see… The artworks on the exhibition are born from this new experiment.
One of the things I realized when working on this series is how much landscape painting has a strong evocative power on human beings. It reminds us of places we have seen, moments we lived or places we would like to visit someday. It makes us dive into our memories, our imagination and our dreams. For a moment, we are elsewhere … we are dreaming of the elsewhere.
Meet the Artist Event
There will be no opening event for this exhibition. Instead, I organized a “Meet the Artist” event that will take place on Sunday, September 9, 2018, from 1 to 3 pm. I will do a short talk presenting my work and be available to answer your questions. Come to meet me!
